Welcome to Freestyle Friday (Recorded on a Saturday)
This week’s Freestyle Friday is different. I recorded an entire episode earlier in the week while operating from a place of frustration and anger. Before publishing it, I stopped myself. I paused. I reflected. And I decided not to send that energy out into the world.
Leadership requires self-awareness. Growth requires restraint. And sometimes the best decision you can make is to sit with your emotions before sharing them.
So today, instead of speaking from anger, I want to speak from clarity and gratitude. The lessons are the same, but the perspective is stronger.
Growth Will Attract Shade—Take It as Confirmation
When you step into new challenges, expand your influence, or start winning publicly, something interesting happens: people start throwing shade.
They comment. They criticize. They blame you for things you have zero control over.
This week, I received a DM from someone I do not look up to and frankly do not care to hear from. They blamed me for several things I had nothing to do with—situations that have been outside my control for years.
My first reaction was anger. Then I paused, stepped back, and looked at the bigger picture.
The truth is this:
**The more you win, the more noise you will attract.
The more you disrupt the market, the more uncomfortable you make people who refuse to grow.**
A few minutes after that message, I received a text from two of my top clients—two young leaders under 30, meeting each other in person for the first time. Both are winning. Both are changing the mortgage industry. And I had a hand in connecting them.
That was the reminder I needed. The impact is louder than the negativity.
Focus on Who You Are Affecting, Not Who Is Attacking
A question I ask myself often is something my friend Damon West says:
“Are you infecting or affecting people?”
Meaning: Are you spreading negativity, or are you making a positive impact?
When I look at the clients I work with, the families they support, the deals they close, and the momentum they create in their communities, the answer is clear. My impact is moving the world forward, not backward.
That one DM does not define anything. The wins do.
The Power of Belief and the Clarity of Vision
Mindset matters, but belief sits right beside it. You must believe that your vision is possible—even when no one else sees it.
A few days ago, a time hop showed me affirmations I recorded three years ago. At the time, they were goals:
Become a bestselling author
Become a keynote speaker
Become a coach
Today, they are no longer goals—they are facts.
I am now an international bestselling author.
I have taken the stage as a keynote speaker across multiple events.
I am coaching some of the top producers in the country.
This did not happen because others believed in me.
It happened because I believed in me.
And here is the lesson:
**Other people do not have to see your vision.
It is not their vision.
It is yours.**
When I first mentioned coaching years ago, someone looked me straight in the face and said, “I do not see it.”
Good.
They did not need to.
It was not theirs to see.
Doubt From Others Says More About Them Than You
People will doubt you. Question you. Throw their fears onto you. It usually has nothing to do with your abilities and everything to do with their limitations.
Most people are not willing to:
Take risks
Step out of their comfort zone
Do the work required
Embrace rejection
Chase something bigger
So they try to pull you back to their level.
But once you start winning?
Those same people suddenly become fans.
You do not need their validation. The only support system you truly need is your inner circle. For me, that is my wife—she believes in me every day.
Everyone else’s opinion is noise.
Discipline, Planning, and the Vision for 2026
Clarity is powerful. I am spending today refining my clarity for 2026. Yesterday, I mapped out all of my strategies and goals. And here is the key:
**The disciplines for 2026 start today.
Not on January 1.
Not next quarter.
Right now.**
We have already changed the structure of our days, the actions we take, and the way we attack our business.
Success in the future begins with discipline in the present.
Not Everyone Will Support Your Climb—and That Is Fine
In this industry, especially in speaking and coaching, it is every person for themselves. Many will protect their opportunities. Few will lift another leader up.
Do not expect people to open doors for you.
**It is your job to find the stage.
Your job to find the opportunity.
Your job to keep going.**
When a retired NFL player recently asked me about speaking opportunities, I immediately started making introductions for him. But I do not expect others to do the same for me.
Operate from generosity, not expectation.
Get Better, Not Bitter
As you rise, people will come from every angle trying to pull you back. They will blame you for their lack of results. They will resist your growth. They will project their insecurities.
If you are one of those people blaming others for your situation, here is the truth:
Stop being bitter and start being better.
If you do not change what you are doing today, you will be in the exact same place—if not worse—a year from now.
Growth requires responsibility, not excuses.
Your Vision Matters More Than Every Opinion Around You
I want you to remember this:
The closer you are to breakthrough, the louder the negativity becomes.
The people closest to you may not see your vision—and that is fine.
Your belief is the only belief that matters.
The only person who needs to see where you are going is you.
See You Next Week
This was Freestyle Friday, even though it was recorded on a Saturday. It came from a place of honesty, clarity, and gratitude.
I hope it encourages you to protect your vision, trust your belief, and take responsibility for where you are headed.
See you next week.
